Hello – My wife and I are considering staying at a place listed in this blog post called Malibu Suites. Other than their web site I can find virtually nothing on the internet about this place. I’m wondering if you can shed any light on the level of cleanliness of this facility. It IS inexpensive, so we are not expecting a 4 star resort, but we need it to be CLEAN. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Hello there Gary, thank you for leaving a comment.
You won’t find so many opinions on Malibu Suites online, because it is a relatively new and small complex. It is private and conveniently located.
Due its young age people find it to be very clean, also the inventory is clean and new, such as air conditioning, beds and flat screen televisions.
Don’t hesitate to contact me with any additional questions.
Hello,
My family of 5 is thinking about staying at the Aruba Boardwalk in August. The rates are very reasonable and the property looks nice on its website. Is this a nice resort in person. Is there a public beach across the road from it other than the beach at the Marriott?
Hello Mark, thank you for visiting this website.
Coincidentally I was talking to someone who stayed there recently and he commented how much he liked the place, especially if you have a family, regardless their ages. It is more private, less commercial than neighboring Marriott and it surely is quieter.
In regards to the beach in the vicinity, there are Palm Beach, Malmok Beach (shallow water, water sport) and further up north some coral beaches followed by Arashi Beach. You might need motorized (bus or car) transport to get to some of the mentioned beaches, as it is a pretty decent walk from the Board Walk.
Hi Gabriel,
Thank you for the last response. I have another question for you.
What is your opinion of the Caribbean Palm Village Resort? I don’t see anything writting about it on your website. My understanding is that the resort has a shuttle bus that takes guests to the beach (somewhere). Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Mark
Hi there Mark, thank you for bringing to my attention the slip up there. I added Caribbean Palm Village to the list and also MVC Eagle Beach.
Caribbean Palm Village is a small timeshare resort in the area of Palm Beach. It is approximately a 7 minutes drive from the beach. Close by there are several stores such as a pharmacy and grocery store.
CPV was build in early 90’s and is a veteran in Aruba hospitality. Indeed there is a shuttle mini-van which takes you and picks you up at Palm Beach.

I am trying to get the contact information for coral reef beach but their site is not loading. Is there any way to get the email information for the property owners?
Thanks
I noticed that Coral Reef Beach has a little problem with their website, while accessing it with Internet Explorer. Nevertheless, I managed to get the information you needed. Contact information:

Dear you,
A really last minute question: I’m going to be on Aruba from mid of December up to the 30th. Unfortunately the Coral Reef Apartments are not available. Any idea where to stay, think I like to stay in the South West, a non crowded place, not that touristic atmosphere. Let’s make a short: a quite similar place like the Coral Reef, an apartment with ocean view.
Thank you.
I’ll check it out and get back to you.
Great. And thanks for that fast answer. And it’s so necessary cause I need to book the flight tonight.
Best, Jette
I thought of three options that meet your requirements. At least I think they meet your requirements. They are all different, in terms of the location, prices, luxury and maintenance. The things they have in common are that they are all ocean view and not really touristy.
Keep in mind that this is the busy period, so it might be difficult to find space.
1. Sea-Breeze Apartments
2. Aruba Surfside Marina
3. The Vistalmar
If above places are full, below are a few places worth trying. Keep in mind that number four and five don’t have ocean view.
4. Blue Village
5. Perle D’or
Checked them all. Totally booked. But good to know for the next time. Anyway, thank you for helping.
No problem. Perhaps you should check The Mill Resort. It’s located at Palm Beach, but it is ‘touristy’. They might have some space left.
I never knew there were so many places to stay in Aruba.
I am planning a vacation at Oceania in Feb. 2010. We like to beach all day and enjoy a nice dinner in the evening and my husband will like a few rounds of golf. We are wondering if we need a rental car. Trying to weigh the price of a rental vs. taxing around for 10 days. What do you think and if yes to the car, can you recommend a reasonable and reliable company?
Absolutely. I think for a 10-day stay at Oceania and all the activity you have planned justifies a car rental. Although Divi Links 9-hole golf course and some restaurants are near Oceania, I think your options are much better with a car. Tierra del Sol 18-hole golf course and other nice restaurants are far off, relatively speaking.
You might consider getting a 3-day special from Economy Car Rental located near Oceania. Those specials are widely available in the little tourists booklets they hand out to you at the airport upon arrival. Other car rental companies near Oceania are Hertz and Avis. I’m also fond of Toyota Rent a Car located at nearby Casa del Mar Resort. Most car rentals have pick up service.
Thanks Gabriel for the tips. I was able to get what I think is a good 10 day rental rate from Avis at $324 with all taxes. I am so looking forward to this vacation and staying at Oceania.
How from the airport is it and do you have a restarurant recommendations page at your site? Thanks again.
I’m happy to hear your vacation plans are coming along nicely. I don’t have a restaurant recommendation page, it’s been done to death. However, there are a few out there that offer recommendations. One such website is arubarestaurants.com, but a lot of the ratings are done by a small number of reviewers. Tripadvisor is also an option. I’ve had good experiences at El Gaucho (steak, in Oranjestad), Amazonian (meat, in Palm Beach), Aqua Grill (seafood, in Palm Beach), Hostaria Da’Vittorio (Italian, in Palm Beach), Flying Fishbone (seafood, in Savaneta), The Old Man & The Sea (seafood, in Savaneta), Madame Janette (international, in Bubali). Again, these are some of the places I had a good experience recently, but this varies from person to person, but already know that. Thanks for your comments and have a great vacation.
Just one more question; how far is Oceania condos from airport? Thanks for all your help.
Gayle it depends on traffic, but it shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes.
I know restaurants have been discussed to death but are there any within walking distance to Oceania that you would recommend? Many thanks.
Hi there Gayle. Two restaurants within walking distance from Oceania are Screaming Eagle to the south and Chalet Suisse to the north. Both are good restaurants, in my humble opinion.
Gabriel, we are here and enjoying every minute of this lovely weather. Predictions in CT for tomorrow are one foot of snow. Here’s a question for you regarding our return on Feb. 16 for a 2pm flight–will there be any Carnival/Fat Tuesday events preventing us getting to the airport? And if so, is there an alternate route.
Thanks for all your patience and answers. They were most helpful.
It’s been my pleasure answering all your questions. Don’t worry about it. A foot of snow is quite something, so I suggest you don’t even start thinking about it now. In terms of carnival activities, the last major one is this Sunday, February 14 on Valentines Day: Aruba Grand Parade. Monday there is a little activity and on Wednesday too. Tuesday you will be fine.
My husband and I will be arriving in Aruba on April 17 and staying at the Carribean Palm Village for 7 days. Do you know if there is a shuttle from the airport to that particular timeshare, or would we be better off renting a car for a few days. Which option would be the least expensive?
Hi there Sandy, there is no shuttle from the airport to CPV. The only two least expensive options are taking a taxi or renting a car. If you take a taxi you can use public transportation throughout the week, it’s the cheapest. This is not the most ideal option in my opinion. Renting a car is a serious option you should consider as there are many 3-day or week special for renting. If you feel comfortable driving in foreign places, than this is the way to go. Remember, no right turn on red. Thanks for your comment.
Hello!
I’m going to Aruba on July 15th and I’d like to rent a one person room in town, with furniture and appliances. I’d like it to be cheap. Can you give me room advices? Thanks!
I’ve searched a little for what you might be looking for and must warn you that there are no single rooms, minimum are doubles. The prices vary from $89 to $115 per night. Options near town are Aruba Surfside Marina, Camacuri Apartments, Malibu Suites or Talk of the Town. I’ve linked them with the prices, where available. Thanks for your comment.
Hi Gabriel, we are trying the Aruba Pearl for our winter 2011 trip to Aruba because it was considerably less expensive than Oceania. What do you hear about it? I have yet to see one bad review.
Also we found a great 10 day car rental rate with Tropic Rental Car. Are they reliable?
Best,
Gayle
Hi there Gayle thank you for your comment. Obviously you can read reviews from fellow passengers about Aruba Pearl all over the internet. Where I come in handy are my constant one-on-ones with tourists. From this I can tell you that I, too, have heard predominantly positive commentary about Pearl. If I have to mention something negative is the lack of activity there. Apart from two pools and a small gym there’s nothing else to do. This is nonsense. Aruba Pearl is known for its calm scene and quietness. It’s a small development, so don’t expect poolside activities. Dimitry (caretaker) really takes pride in his development and makes sure people are comfortable.
I haven’t heard much of Tropic Rental Car but I have seen their cars around. From what I understand they only rent 2007 Toyota Yaris and older with a special of $145 for 5 days ($29 a day). Their pricing is sharp. I don’t expect you to have issues with them.
Someone emailed me and told me that Hans of Tropic is great. So there perhaps that helps and gives a bit more confidence.

We are traveling to Aruba on Oct 27 – Oct 31st of this year. We plan on having our wedding on the island in April and are going in a month to do a site visit of different properties, vendors and taste the food. The wedding will be held at the Radisson Hotel in Palm Beach. Where do you recommend staying close to that area that is relatively inexpensive but clean and comfortable?
